Do I score one path with red trees or is it allowed to score the obvious long path plus the two short rows?

One long path.

Looks like 9 points.

Quote:
A player can never score more than one Path per Suit, even if he has more.

Yes one long path. But I see 11 points.
from the 1 Ahorn, straight up through 2, 3 Eiche, across 1 to 4 Eiche, down 1 to 5 Eiche, right to the 8 Ahorn.

EDIT: You also have 2...8 Eiche and
3...6 Kassie. Assuming you got the scoring rights.

Well done

Remember that you are allowed to score a single tree for more than one path.

Edit: Indeed you can score 11 Points for Ahorn (going from 1-Ahorn to 8-Ahorn via Eiche and Kassie).

Additionally you can score 9 Points for Eiche (going from 2-Eiche to 8-Eiche via Kassie).

Additionally you can also score Kassie (going from 3-Kassie to 6-Kassie) = 4 points.

Of course you Need to gain the right to score each of those paths.

2nd Edit: Somehow I missed GregDarcy's posting saying quite the same.

from the look of your avatar, you were already there!

It's really simple.
Each path starts and ends with the same type of tree, and must go up in value as you progress.
Count the cards in each path. Double the count if the path is more than 4 trees long and all the one type. Add one if it starts with 1. Add two if it ends with 8. you can only score one path for each type of tree.

You are allowed to score if you have the highest card value for that species in your hand. A one in your hand negates an 8 in someone else's.

I give myself very good advice, But I very seldom follow it. That explains the trouble that I'm always in.

clarification: right to score goes to the player who retained in their hand at the end of the game the higher sum of cards for that species of tree.

To be even more precise, it is the sum of the values on the cards.
