The best way to play SW:ccg is by making two balanced themed decks. This way you can replay scenes from the movies. But it doesn't always go according to the scripted plan...

Here are the highlights of my last game. Both light and dark side decks are based around Target The Main Generator. But various themed cards like Wampa and Atgar Cannon are included to add recognizability of the movie The Empire Strikes Back.

Early in the game the dark side made an impressive entrance.

The dark side even had the card Target The Main Generator in hand! Lucky draw I guess. I can imagine Veers saying "Yes, Lord Vader. I've reached the main power generators. The shield will be down in moments. You may start your landing."
The light side took control of the Raithall system, enabling a recurring force drain.

By putting all characters in AT-AT's the dark side was able to ignore the Wampa. And start building up the pressure. The light side's response was well done by playing Mechanic Failure on Veer's Blizzard 1.

A rebel ambush swiftly took down Blizzard 1 scoring a devastating hit on the dark side. Destiny draw for the light side was high thanks to the card convieniently named Rebel Ambush.

The dark side kept hammering Hoth rebels by deploying AT-AT's. Safe from creatures, the Wampa now started trampling towards the light side characters on the ground.
Meanwhile the dark side struggled to gain control of Raithal and took much damage from force drains there. Certainly now that Bren piloted his Red 8, giving a bonus drain of +1.

The dark side kept pushing and initiated a ground battle while simultaneously trying to take control of Echo Base. By reacting the Snowspeeder to the battle, the light side was able to win a grim fight. This move further strengthened the rebel's cause.

It was too late. The dark side took to long to reach Echo Base and suffered too much from force drains at Raithal and lost battles at the marker sites.

It was a great game! Cool to see both decks are well balanced. I wanted to share my decklists here, but I just discovered I accidentally deleted them... Just to be clear, the dark side did have starships, but fate decided them to go to the lost pile during force drains.

This is my favorite way to play this game. I have several different paired deck setups that I like to use.

same here... I've been thinking of the Hoth battle and trying to find a balance... largely taking the introductory setup and tweaking it for improvements...but I want to incorporate some kind of asymmetric victory condition: Destroy the shield generator (DS) and have X Transports escape (LS)

Brill. Cheers for posting. This was the scenario I wanted to try after the three Tatooine/Death Star scenarios I picked up years ago.

Same here, though I will have to improvise with some of the rares...as long as I don't have too many strong chars, etc., on one side it should still balance out...

There's another of my sessions on the Geek here too. I always try to post my decklists. They're not set in stone, but it's a nice way to start building your own matched decks.

Yeah, I'm using 4 proxies for (EP I) Destroyer Droids. These b*tches are too expensive on eBay.
