Gloria Mundi is the game for our time. An USA version of it would be cool: E pluribus nihilum (Latin grammar correction welcome). But who/what would be the Goth? That would be . . . politically sensitive. Just label them "Barbarians" and let the players identify them with their favorite villains.
--City Resource Cards produce 1 gold and take Financial, Media, and Federal, State and Local Government Buildings. E.g., Chase Bank, Bank One, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, AIG, Smith Barney, Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Federal Reserve Bank of New York City, NBC-Comcast, etc.
--Suburban Resource Cards produce 1 peace and take Security Institutions, Major Retailers, Hospitals as Buildings. E.g., FBI, NSA, CIA, OSR, 1st Army, 2nd Army, 3rd Army, 4th Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, California National Guard, Texas National Guard, generic county sheriffs and city police depts., Regional US Treasuries, Duke Energy, ATT, etc.
--Rural Resource Cards produce 1 food/energy and take Energy, Electrical Grid, Communications Grid, and Agribusiness cards as Buildings. Exxon-Mobil, Shell, TVA, Duke Energy, ATT, ConAg, Cargill, etc.
Object: Smuggle the most gold to Switzerland before the Barbarian reaches Washington DC.
Player Turn Order
1. Draw and Place Building in Forum.
2. Select Resource Card.
3. All Players Produce.
4. Optional: Active Player either A) Buys Building or B) Trades With Other Players or C) Governs or D) Taxes, or E) Regulates.
5. Optional: Tribute to Barbarian or Let Him Advance.
6. Take Gold to Switzerland or Return from Switzerland.
Governing: use Congress, President, or Supreme Court cards to take away Federal Government cards from other players, returning them to deal deck. As Congress, President, and Supreme Court are in Washington, these cards cannot be placed on Cities and cannot be destroyed by the Barbarian, but are extremely expensive and are up for sale at the beginning of the game.
Taxing: use a Treasury card to take away 1/2 of every players' gold, including your own, throw half of the total to the bank, keep 1/4 for yourself, use 1/4 as tribute in front of the Barbarian's path.
Regulating: strip another player of any Building card except for a Federal Government card, Bureaucracy card, or Treasury card.
