OK - wondering whether we have a bad copy

The bows do not stay attached well to the Indians, and the arrows seem almost pointless in doing damage. The bows are almost falling over as you are trying to position an arrow - it is all a little bit precarious.

Anybody else have this issue??

do you connect both carton components to your native figures?
I test shot the bow at another native figure (20 cm away) and knocked it over on first try :-)

Yes, I do - but they do not hold very securely at all. Nobody wants to play them any more, as shooting with the bow seems to be entirely uncontrollable.

Perhaps we are doing it wrong? Or perhaps the wooden pieces were not cut well?

I just opened the expansion and was wondering the same think!
Probably the reason why has extra lenght on the other side is just so you can hold it (with your hand) on place while you shooting.

I guess it makes sense because even if the bow was better attached to the figure, the flicking would cause it to move!

I was also wondering if it was just my copy or if it is not supposed to fit snug although that seems unlikely.

I'm surprised more people have not chimed in on this or if this is something only affecting a small number of games. I'm not sure the best way to pad the meeple to ensure a snug fit.

Mine won't hold either. I guessed you have to hold it with one hand and flick with the other, but it does seem a little clunky.

I'm doing just that. I'm not quite sure if the bows are like that on purpose or if it's an error. I hold the non bow side with one hand, and flick with my other. Thematically I suppose it could be like holding a bow with one arm and flicking an arrow with your other arm.

Yup, same thing here. Just got mine and actually thought about contacting Pretzel about it. Maybe that's just how they're made? I think they should definitely slide in as snug as the connections on the item boxes. shake

We have the same problem with our copy. I'd already read this thread and so told my son to hold onto it with one hand and flick it with the other. But even doing that, the bows were useless. He grew increasingly frustrated, and we finally resorted to just flicking them on the table (like bullets) and with 2 tries per shot. Even then, it was hard for a hit to knock down a cowboy. I reminded him that bows and arrows were inferior to guns, but I think they took it too far. The Indians looks so cool, but if I can't find some heavier arrows, I'll probably just arm them with guns. That's what they did historically too.

Edit: We played again tonight and I re-read the rules. We were shooting the arrows wrong. Unlike bullets and the tomahawk, you ARE supposed to use your thumb. It makes a huge difference in how powerfully you can shoot the arrows. The bows are still fiddly and we had to carefully hold them in place, but the arrows were successful this time.
