This is taking way more of our time than it should, but it is causing a great debate this evening (although it could be due to the wine).

Is it pronounced 'pick - oh - me - no' or 'pick - omino'?surprise

It's a game in which you pick a domino, hence pick-omino.

I agree with the logic, but for some reason, we pronounce it the other way. Go figure....

Same here. For some reason, my brain never connected the name of the game with the word "domino," despite the fact that I've compared the pieces to dominoes several times. I have a mental disconnect somewhere.

I go with the second pronunciation; in other words, the "-omino" part rhymes with "domino" (which makes sense, considering you're picking up domino-like pieces).

I've heard people pronounce it the other way, but it just sounds wrong to me, partly because many four-syllable English words have the accent on the third to last syllable (for example, when pronouncing "telephony" you say "te-LE-phony" and not "tele-PHO-ny"), and partly because "pick-O-mino" makes sense in a way that "picko-MI-no" doesn't.

I thought it should have been pick-worm-ino

pick - as in 'pick' yer nose
worm - as in earthworm
ino - as in the end of the word Domino (however you pronounce it)

mikey.
