Since i have quite a lack of armada players in my area I have to show the game to some Xwing players interested so i am going to provide a couple lists and let them play.

Since i won't have wave 3 and 4 until next week i tried to write a couple of easy to use but interesting lists (i am not a veteran myself).

I wonder if they are balanced considering also rebels will start

You want your friends to try the game, I think it would be more interesting to play fleets with more squadrons, and less upgrades on ships, to keep a clear game for new players.
The most important is that the game must be fun for new players, easy to learn rules, how to drive ships, orders, squadrons...
Make them dream, don't play it in a super technical/tactical way

but they are already xwing players and really passionate boardgame players.
I think they want to see the full game rather than a preview.

The Coat of Arms of Clan Montgomery - Scotland. Yes, that's a woman with the head of a savage in her hand, and an anchor. No clue what it means, but it's cool.

I think you can give them the full game without adding all the upgrades . . . add one or two upgrades to a *single* ship (probably the flagship), with the rest of the ships having no upgrades. Then use more squadrons on both sides as necessary.

After the game, you can explain that the upgrade cards allow for lots of variety and "special rules" and that you didn't want to clutter up the game the first time around with those, so you added a couple to keep it interesting without overwhelming them.

I am sure they familiar with the concept of upgrade cards due to their X-Wing experience, but absorbing the new game's rules *and* remembering how each of their upgrades changes those rules can be a bit overwhelming the first time through.

But they are your friends. You would know them better than any of us.

Good luck -- I hope you convert them over.

Edit: I should also add that having a balanced list really isn't that important the first time around, since neither player is going to be playing the lists optimally anyway.

I am looking for just that list. As few upgrades as possible.

This is a great conversation topic as I have wished to get friends new to Armada into playing more often without over whelming them with cards and different synergies.

What I chose to do is a little of yours and a little of the what the previous responder suggested.

My suggestion - not based on actually attempting this yet so please bear with me if it seems confused. What these two builds do in my opinion is showcase Armada with squadron activity, plenty of dice and some upgrade cards to suggest what can be built. Also, I have used iconic ships and named pilots for real fans. I believe this would be a fun matchup that wouldnt take all afternoon to have fun and decide a winner. This is based on what I own so may not work for you.

279 Point Imperial Side:
ISD 1 Relentless with Motti and Commadant Aresko onboard plus quad laser turrets;
Gozanti Class Cruiser Suppressor with Comms Net and Boosted Comms;
Howlrunner
2 x non named Tie Fighters;
Boba Fett;
Darth Vader Advanced Tie (by the way, for this squad, I have replaced the two rear Advanced TF with standard TF on the stand for an iconic New Hope look;
2 x non named Tie Bombers.

278 Point Rebel Side:
MC80 Star Cruiser Liberty with General Dodonna and Spinal Armament;
Wedge Antilles
2 x non named XWing
Han Solo
GR75 Combat Retrofit Bright Hope with Repair Crews and Leigh onboard;
Luke Skywalker; and
GR75 Medium Transport sporting Bomber Command Centre.
