Is that a sort of violation of my rights or what?
Come do your civic duty by us denying your ability to exercise your civil rights.

I am proud to have opposed those who describe all who oppose them as "Tender Flowers" and "Special Snowflakes".

Does your polling place have hours outside those you'll be involved in jury duty? I'd have expected you'd be able to do both.

I've only been summoned to jury duty once, when I was in another state for school and had a good excuse to get out of it. I feel kind of weird about never having served on a jury.

Is it so far from your polling location that you can't make it? Did you know far enough in advance to absentee?

But yeah all the more reason voting should be Sunday and/or a holiday.

Having been called a handful of times, it's trivially easy to re-schedule (at least in Oregon).

Indeed, they provide a form that says outright 'if you can't make it this day, return this card with a date you can serve (at least 2 months beyond the requested date)' and that's that - your new date is in the month you define. Don't even need to provide a reason for re-scheduling it.

(Getting out of it ENTIRELY you have to provide a reason for, and it's a very small list of valid reasons - which makes sense. Moving the date to something you can accommodate I've never had any issue with, though.)

Easy to reschedule and early voting is still in progress.

If you can't vote in the election early, can you vote on the jury verdict early?

In Colorado, which has 100% vote-by-mail?

Your county is smart to not let you vote.

So, did you figure out the mail-in ballot? Well, at this point it's too late to mail in, but you can still drop it off faster than standing in line at a polling place. With more flexible hours, too.

Mainly it got me thinking.
DO they have jury duty in other states on election day?
Somehow I think most states ignore that.
And if they don't have mail in, is this a form of voter suppression?
Heh.

Well, we've heard from at least two other states that don't ignore it, and none that do.
And yes, it would be a form of voter suppression in the proper circumstances.

Remember to tell the prosecutor that you strongly believe in jury nullification and intend to inform the rest of the jury about it during the proceedings.

You have a special dispensation to vote on Nov 9th. You don't even need to mention it to anyone, just go ahead and show up at your usual polling place on the 9th.

Don't forget to mention that the tinfoil topper and pink ballet tutu is requisite for admittance.
