Made a new board. I bought a beat up old shogi board for $15 and sanded down all the surfaces. Redid the board as a Xiangqi board and drew a design around the outside. Looks really cool if I don't say so myself.

Thanks.
Plan to do the same thing for my Janggi board, but use a old Igo board since it will be bigger to fit the pieces better.

You are certainly entitled to say so yourself! It is such an excellent work of creativity and craftsmanship.

Thanks.

I also took the time to figure out why they always write 漢界 and 楚河 on the river.
In Korean chess the generals are also called 漢 and 楚.
I've been carving a set of Janggi (Korean chess) pieces and my dad asked me what the kanji meant while we were video-chatting. I figured they were different areas since the kanji 漢 means Han dynasty or China in general (at least in Japanese). While 楚 literally means "flogging cane, switch". So must be another area.

Turns out it is based on the Chu-Han War (楚漢戰爭).

漢界 is the border of the Han
楚河 is the Chu river

Early 200BC is when the Qin Dynasty fell and battle for supremacy took place with 2 major powers coming to the front, Western Chu and Han.
Well, the Han eventually won the war and the Han Dynasty was born.
