I am interested in both Genesis and Assyrian Wars, and I'm trying to decide between the two. Assyrian Wars appears to have a bit more non-combat aspects, which is attractive for me personally, but also seems to suffer from pretty problematic rules. I'm not sure if it matters, but I plan on playing solitaire (me playing all sides) exclusively.

If you have experience with both games, I'd love to hear your opinions.

I own both games but have only played Genesis. Genesis is great and does solo well. Have yet to get Assyrian Wars to the table. They may be different enough that having both is ok. Genesis is streamlined Pax Romana system and is a lot of fun multiplayer.

They don´t reflect exactly the same period. Assyrian war is more Assyria versus all others.
But, like Tom, I have only played Genesis at this time, planning to play AW not too far.
