Well. If there was a malfunction she at least got her money back, right? Right?

Woman Offered Steak Dinner After Slot Machine Said She Won $43 Million

Katrina Bookman took a celebratory selfie in front of the screen displaying a win of $42,949,672, and was subsequently escorted from the floor and told to return to New York City’s Resorts World Casino the next day for a decision.

When she came back, she was told the machine had a glitch and she hadn’t won anything. Instead of offering her the maximum amount that is supposed to be allowed on the machines—$6,500—the casino offered her a steak dinner. The state gaming commission told an ABC affiliate that it would be illegal to offer her the $6,500, noting that “malfunctions void all pays and plays.”

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

A truly unfortunate story, but out of fairness to the casino, the slot machine clearly displays the jackpot (maximum) amount that can be won on the machine (in her case $6500) as all slot machines are required to display. To get an amount over this displayed amount would clearly be a malfunction by the machine and would be voided as also clearly stated on all slot machines.

Still would absolutely suck to think you won such a jackpot to only end up with a steak dinner. yuk

And I say cobblers to the casino. As far as I am concealed she deserves the maximum jackpot the machine allows, as she won the jackpot.

This just sounds like a great way to get out of paying wins, "ohh the machine was faulty". It is within the law, and the law sucks.

As to the offer they made, me I would tell them to stuff it and do the chat show circuit slagging them off.

So they had a machine that had a defect where it would exceed the maximum amount whenever it had a payoff? I'm sure they've refunded all the money they took in since the last payoff, right?

Also, they will seek out all the people who would have won more but didn't due to malfunction and retroactively give them their winnings. Or a steak dinner.
