Does Hadrathus (or any mage) lose Mitra's Halo if they become encumbered enough to lose spell casting ability? I am guessing no, but the question came up tonight and we couldn't find an absolute answer. We went with he kept the halo, but we thought we'd see what everyone thought. Thanks in advance.

Characters lose all their magic powers and casted spells when they become encumbred.
So yes, Hadrathus lose immediatly the Mitra's Halo.

the reason is that he looses his magic skill when encumbered too much... that is the point!

As far as I know, the only way to become encumbered is to perform a Manipulation action to pick up objects. In order to Manipulate you must take an Aggressive stance, which cancels Mitra's Halo. So the situation you describe should never come up.

Not entirely: Pallantides explains in thread 1650034 that the Halo disappears when you change from Cautious to Aggressive. The spell is necessarily cast while Aggressive, and then stays "on" until the stance is changed from Cautious to Aggressive (so you can, in theory, keep it on the whole game). The part of the spell which says "or when your group activates" applies to when an OL unit casts the spell, not to the heroes.

For the hero, once cast, the spell last until the hero becomes active (aggressive) after a turn where he was inactive (cautious). So it can last for some turns if you got enough gems to stay active.

Great. Thanks. That also makes more sense. Going by my first intrepretation, I thought Mitra's Halo sucked pretty bad.
