Just wondering what would happen if you played with variant rules that would allow you to order each unit each turn? How would it play out then? Would it work well or not?
What are your thoughts?

This has come up before, I'm sure it can be searched for.

Generally, it destroys the game balance. Green units get weaker, being one of their advantages is how often they may be ordered.

Heavy cavalry get too powerful, rushing about the field.

And the whole strategic concept of hand management is removed.

On the other hand, no one is going to arrest you if you try it.

Rather than having all stands being ordered for both movement and attack, you might try letting all stands attack but still use command cards for movement. The thought here would be that units need orders to move, but they don't need continual orders to fight and shoot.
