Has anyone run any math or analysis as to which starship type offers the best statistical advantage?

I've not but if you think about it, the options are:
1. Use a d8.
2. +1 to die.
3. Re-roll 1's.
Assume one is comparing to a d6.
1. A d8 has 8 states, 2 of which are always higher than a d6.
2. A d6 with +1 still has 6 states and 1 is always higher than an unmodified d6.
3. A d6 for which a 1 is re-rolled once has 11 possible states-- the ordinary 6 with the 1 replaced by the same ordinary 6.
Clearly the d8-- capitol ships-- most increases the probability of winning the roll. I tend to get ships and use them in combination though. All 3 together can be a formidable combination.
