I know, do you pick someone (like clinton) who's qualified, intelligent, experienced, and has good temperament but "who’s under federal investigation for using a private email server,

or do you pick someone (like trump) who called Mexicans ‘rapists,’ claimed the president was born in Kenya, proposed banning an entire religion from entering the U.S., mocked a disabled reporter, said John McCain wasn’t a war hero because he was captured, attacked the parents of a fallen soldier, bragged about committing sexual assault, was accused by 12 women of committing sexual assault, said some of those women weren’t attractive enough for him to sexually assault, said more countries should get nukes, said he would force the military to commit war crimes, said a judge was ‘biased’ because his parents were Mexicans, said women should be ‘punished’ for having abortions, incited violence at his rallies, called global warming ‘a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese,’ called for his opponent to be jailed, declared bankruptcy six times, bragged about not paying income taxes, stiffed his contractors and employees, lost a billion dollars in one year, scammed customers at his fake university, bought a six-foot-tall painting of himself with money from his fake foundation, has a trial for fraud coming up in November, insulted an opponent’s looks, insulted an opponent’s wife’s looks, and bragged about grabbing women ‘by the pussy.’”*

How can you possibly pick between two so similar candidates?

I am glad that a few dozen senior republicans are voting against Trump. Unfortunately with record turnout in some states, republican voters are supporting Trump. Trump is the Coo-coo bird and has taken the party away from them. If those senior republicans had any sway with republican voters at all, Trump should be getting under 35% of the voters. If Ryan and Rubio and Cruz hadn't lined up behind Trump- perhaps it might not be so close.

But I do recognize a lot of senior republicans do see a problem with Trump. I'm just amazed how little that matters to republican voters.

Not supporting Hillary is political suicide. The kind of suicide where you shoot yourself twice in the head, then drag your body 200 feet.

Normally, I find these sorts of references stupid and awful. That one gave me a chuckle, though. Well done!

Also, Sikes, the reason you've not heard about prominent Democrats not supporting Clinton is that she's a pretty solid center-left candidate, and Democrats being disorganized isn't news. The Republicans have long gotten their political power from their unity and higher voting probability, while Democrats get theirs from appealing to more people (but who are less likely to vote along party lines).

You are correct. Many prominent and respected Republicans are rejecting Trump, and few prominent and respected Democrats are rejecting Hillary. Why is this the case?

The reason is simple. Trump is not only ignorant, not only immoral, and not only unfit for the presidency. He is also a genuine threat to American democracy and world peace. Trump really truly is much, much, worse than Hillary. That is why Mitt Romney, John McCain, and other Republicans with years of sterling service to the USA are making the right choice.

Trump is no Romney.

Romney, albeit representative of the well-off, was a fairly reasoned, level-headed, and decent person. Sure, he took the typical hits associated with the contest for the most powerful office in the world, but to equivocate Romney with Trump is purely comic.

Trump is a low-level, unstable, unqualified, uneducated piece of human waste. The worst person that never has grown or matured one bit since the late 70s. A business failure, a failure as a spouse, and a failure as a productive and constructive citizen of our society. He is interested in one person, and has only given to one person in his pursuits.

All the poor yokels that support this whackadoo (not the racist piece of shits), will be discarded like yesterday's food scraps if he ever became president.

In our history, there has been a person more unworthy of the office.

Fair point, that the extent to which recent Republican nominees were sensationally demonized has inured the public to rhetoric which this time is very much appropriate to describe Trump. A case of boy that cried wolf, no doubt. But this isn't a partisan issue- if anything the right-wing media led the way with talk radio and Fox News. The sad part is that rather than this serving as a lesson moving forward, the media is so irresponsibly obsessed with the bottom line that they'll keep doing this shit until the demand isn't there; it's up to us as consumers to change the status quo. Of course given the way this election has gone so far, I'm less hopeful than ever... "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Not forthcoming, I guess.

Democrats I can find who are supporting Trump

> Congressman Tom Luken, OH (1974–75, 1977–91), Democrat
> Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr., a Democrat who is on a National Review cruise speaker?
> Andrew Stein, 22nd Borough President of Manhattan (1978–85) and New York City Council President (1986–94), Democrat
> R. James Woolsey Jr., Director of Central Intelligence (1993–95), Democrat, probably more non-partisan
> Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn (ret.), Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (2012–14), big Trump supporter who is supposedly a Democrat

Others

>Doug Schoen, a liberal strategist who worked for Bill Clinton, recently declared (so far) that he could no longer support Hillary Clinton
>Susan Sarandon endorsed Jill Stein

Is Ivanka Trump a Democrat? Does that count? "In 2007, Trump donated $1,000 to the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton. In 2012, Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president. In 2013, Trump and her husband hosted a fundraiser for Cory Booker."

To be fair, Grudem was outed as non-trinitarian earlier in the summer, so he has some soul searching in store.

That link doesn't say the guy is a unitarian. He's clearly a trinitarian.

It's a heterodox example of trinitarianism at best to say that the Father and Son of the Godhead reflect the nature of a husband and wife.

It might resemble paganism because so does everything else in Christianity if you pay attention.

Quote:
I have truly tried to be as charitable as possible to Drs. Ware and Grudem during this debate over their theology of the Trinity. But when I read passages like the one below from Dr. Grudem's wildly popular Systematic Theology I can barely keep my head from spinning.
Quote:
The husband's role is parallel to God the Father and the wife's role is parallel to that of God the Son. ... And, although it is not explicitly mentioned in Scripture, the gift of children within marriage, coming from both the father and the mother, and subject to the authority of both father and mother is analogous to the relationship of the Holy Spirit to the Father and Son in the Trinity. (pp. 256-257)

Come let us reason together!

This goes far beyond reasonable speculation. In an effort to be charitable I want to call it exotic. But that will not do. It is worse than exotic. It may well be blasphemous.

I chose that word with no small amount of thought and sobriety.

The stubborn insistence of Drs. Ware and Grudem to force a parallel between the Father and the Son to a husband and wife is worse than troubling. And, as we can see from the passage cited above, it leads to the inevitable comparison of the Holy Spirit to the child of the divine husband (Father) and wife (Son). These parallels have far more in common with pagan mythology than Biblical theology.

I am angry about this. This is a distortion of the Godhead and there is nothing helpful or beautiful about it.
