Hey

I'm looking for a couple of games to pack in the kids' stockings this Christmas (aged 8 and 10).

The kind of thing I'm looking for is smallish (no big board games, remember that stocking); under £10; probably 5 - 20 mins long; and good for kids and grown ups. We already have:

Dobble
Loonacy
Rhino Hero
Ghost Blitz
Ah Harr!
Animal upon animal - small version

These are exactly the sort of thing I'm thinking of - maybe dexterity games, fast card games, etc.

All suggestions gratefully received (including pointing me to a thread that's bound to exist already but I can't see it!)

Ian

The Cardline and Timeline games are small and fun. I play them with my 8 year old daughter and 11 year old son as well as their teenage sister and cousins and my wife.

My son (now age 11) has very happily played Love Letter for the past couple of years. Just choose the version which suits your family ... we usually play the Hobbit version.

You can also pick up Age of War, Sushi Go! and Rhino Hero for under a tenner - all great fun.

Our kids (6, 10, 12) love these little ones:

Pizza party (2 player)
Hey! That's my fish!
Sushi Go
Roll for it
Taco Takeover

The older ones love Paperback, too.

Hope you all have lots of fun with the Christmas presents.

I'd recommend, "Splish Splash Catapult", a small dexterity game which came out this year. My kids love it. Easy, quick and fun to play. Shouldn't cost much more than 5 bucks.

My nieces are 9 and 11 and the past two weekends we have played a lot of 3 Wishes because they like it so much.
Animals on Board has also been a big hit, but might be a little bigger than what you are looking for.

A few more suggestions that haven't been mentioned yet:

Stellar Conflict, My 10 year old really enjoys this, plays quick.
Doodle Quest, Whole family likes this, might stretch "stocking stuffer" a bit.
Unexploded Cow, Another one my 10 year old enjoys, serious enough mechanics with silly theme.
Mars Attacks: Ten-Minute Takedown, I don't like dexterity games very much but the kids enjoy this one, plays quick.
Flip City, I started getting bored with the same-ness of this game but my son still enjoys it, might pick up expansion to flesh it out.
Monster Factory, Another one that is probably too big for stocking but is a easy/quick game we play with all our kids in the evenings.
Hey, That's My Fish!, get the small/travel version, very compact, plays the same.
Roll For It! Deluxe Edition, easy rules, quick play.
Straw, helps with basic math as well.

Hope it helps.

Qwixx and Pinguin-Party are two games that go really well with the kids (10 and 12) in my family, that also get played when there are no kids around.
