Territorial Veletas differs from Veletas in the following aspects:

- When a shooter is trapped, it's taken in by the biggest group orthogonally adjacent to it. This is indicated by moving the shooter onto any stone from that group, which must be of the color that would have claimed the shooter in the original game. If several groups of that color are tied for biggest, the player who owns that color chooses which one gets the shooter. If all squares orthogonally adjacent to the trapped shooter are occupied by other shooters, the trapped shooter remains in play (it will necessarily regain mobility at some later point).

- When all shooters have been taken in, the game ends. A player's score is the number of stones of their color that are part of groups with one or more shooters taken in, plus a komi in the case of White. The player with the highest score wins. In case of a tie, the winner is the player with more shooters taken in by groups of their own color.

- Before the game starts, one of the players chooses the whole number which will be used as komi, and then the other player chooses colors.
