I'm finding the masts break too easily. Has anyone discovered a good storage solution to help prevent mast breakage? Please share and show some pictures.

Use neodymium magnets at the base of the mast. http://www.kjmagnetics.com/categories.asp

You can remove the masts easily for figure storage, and snap them back on with a satisfying 'click' when it's time to play.

Some people stick sheet metal to the bottom of a toolbox and then attach magnets to the bases of the ship. I can't find any pictures here at BGG, but if you join The Sea of Claws Yahoo group and search, you should be able to find some ideas.

I'll have to dig my set out. What I did was use plano boxes and use foam around the ship to guard it from moving. Of cours the plano boxes have to be tall enough but I have managed to have no breakage since I started storing back in the early 90's.

I put rigging on my sail ships. Somehow it diminish mast breakage. And when it breaks it stays in place!

What size do you use? 2mm x 1mm? 3mm?
