Go to www.270towin.com and select Blank Map on the drop down (in the Gulf of Mexico).

Your challenge:

Create a connected path of states from West Coast to East Coast with the highest possible Electoral Vote total.

* Two states are considered connected if they share a border.

* The path may not contain any states that are unnecessary to maintaining the continuous coast-to-coast path. I.E. if a state can be removed from your map and still result in a coast-to-coast path then it is not a valid map.

* If you include Alaska or Hawaii you are dumb.

Challenge 1- Create the highest Electoral Vote total path that starts on the West Coast and ends on the East Coast. You can have as many West Coast and East Coast states included in your path as you like, as long as there are no unnecessary states as per the rule above.

Challenge 2- Create the highest Electoral Vote total path that connects a single West Coast state (WA, OR, or CA) to a single East Coast state (ME, NH, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, or FL).

Share your map here using the Green "Share Map" button and copy/pasting the link it generates.

Edit: I presumed going up and down the coast was a foul for either challenge

Sorry if it wasn't clear - Challenge 1 explicitly PERMITS running up and down the coast, as long as there are no redundant states in your final chain.

Challenge 2 is strictly one state per coast permitted.

MA is extra in your second map (NY is already an East Coast state)

Neither one is as high as I have reached in my solutions.

My assumptions were we're just trying to get coast to coast, so going one east coast state to one west coast state (more than one state on a coast meant that the further along state would get dropped off, as it'd be extraneous). I'm assuming PA doesn't have an Atlantic port. And I'm assuming states west of Florida aren't east coast, even if they're on the Atlantic.

Edit:
I think 324, if we're up and down both coasts.

I updated my first map since you responded. The second one is still wrong but I feel I've already made too many edits.

Thanks. I'd misunderstood the challenges. I've added my approach to challenge 1, assuming I've got things right now.

Ending in New England is not an option (the first five) since once you reach New York you're done.

SC is redundant, which drops you to 337. I made exactly the same mistake in my similar, but different in the north east same score map.

And without a stupid error in it, I'd have matched the 340 someone else has created. But second even if I'd got it right. (Annoying as I had that bit right on an earlier attempt.)
