Find some $100 bills from another game! The repetitive payout numbers are just really clunky to me.

Here is an alternate payoff table that is a little more realistic.

I based the PLACE payoffs at 40 percent of the WIN profit for each odds level, which is pretty much in line with existing table and the SHOW payoffs at 20 percent of the WIN profit (or half the PLACE profit).

The original payoffs for SHOW are a bit closer to 25 percent, but:

1. That would mean using $20 and $5 bills with a totally linear payoff table and I didn't need that much grief.

2. The SHOW payoffs are really easy to make money on at the 25 percent level. Based on my results (a fair sample size of about 200 races), betting every horse to show for all six races will yield on average about a $6,000 profit. Yes I know, you can only make one show bet per race by rule, but I'm just trying illustrate how lucrative the show bet is overall. Twenty percent of the win profit works well to me.

Odds Win Place Show
1.5 2500 1600 1300
2 3000 1800 1400
2.5 3500 2000 1500
3 4000 2200 1600
3.5 4500 2400 1700
4 5000 2600 1800
5 6000 3000 2000
6 7000 3400 2200
7 8000 3800 2400
8 9000 4200 2600
10 11000 5000 3000
15 16000 7000 4000
20 21000 9000 5000

Edit: Just tried to make it line-up, so I added some '.0'
Edit: All better, thanks Justin!

You can highlight your text and then use the "C" button above and to the right of the editing window, and that lines up the text as you see it while you are editing.

So I can easily do this:

1000 100 90
15 82 118

And there you have it.

cool
