If you have two decks of cards...

36 black beanstalk cards (4 copies of each numbered 1 through 9)
>> Aces to 9's in four suits

8 red giant cards (2 each of Fe, Fie, Fo and Fum)
>> 10's to Kings in two suits.

> 6 blue treasure cards (2 each of Gold, goose and harp)
2 backs of any cards of a deck, 2 backs of any cards of another deck and 2 Jokers.

If you have just one deck of cards...

36 black beanstalk cards (4 copies of each numbered 1 through 9)
>> Aces to 9's in four suits

8 giant cards (2 each of Fe, Fie, Fo and Fum)
>> 10's to Kings in same color suits.

> 6 treasure cards (2 each of Gold, goose and harp)
Jacks to Kings in same color suits (different from 8 giants cards).

I also think it's worth it for the artwork. But in all fairness I met the designer and he signed my copy in gold pen (which looks really awesome) so I'm kinda biased.

My version was:
2-10 in 4 suits (beanstalk)
J-A in both black suits (giant)
3x 2 face down cards from different decks (treasure)

The board is presumably a lot harder to take in at a glance when playing this way...

The game is not expansive enough to be worth a diy in my opinion.
