I saw a video of people showing their favorite Halloween board games. I thought it would be neat to talk about our favorites each Friday. (Favorite Halloween game, dice game, card game, etc.) I didn't see any other thread like this so if there is I'd like to know. I'm not the best at starting discussions.

What is your favorite childhood game?

Survive was our absolute favorite growing up. We apent so many hours playing this game.

Once we got older, it shifted to Battletech, RPGs, and Games Workshop stuff.

Why was Monopoly arguing with your brothers?

HeroQuest, bar none.

I've found other things I like more since, of course, but as a kid that game was the end all and the be all.

As a kid, I loved Axis & Allies. It was like Super-Risk, about a time period I was fascinated by, and by far the game I could make the most sound effects to. We didn't play out that often due to game length, so there's a part of me that wants to pick up a copy and play it with my family as my kids get older...might be the nostalgia talking.

Honestly. I don't even know. Looking back now I never played many board game, probably because nothing really enticed me away from video games or road hockey. I'm sure i played some of the basics like Monopoly, Jenga, Operation and so on but they were just time killers.

With that said, I have two children of my own and they have been exposed to some great board games so I'll state some of their favourite games.

6yr old boy - Takenoko, Animal Upon Animal, Marvel Legendary

13yr old girl - Dixit, Ra, Patchwork

Edit: Wow! I lied. after I just saw one of the other posts of a wooden board it reminded me of the game my Grandfather taught me. Cribbage was the game I played the most, starting very young.

Little Noddy's Taxi Game (1956).

I don't think it was my very favorite, but I loved the feel of the pieces. They felt like hard chalk. Just look:

I lived in rural Minnesota. My aunt and grandmother lived in New York City. They would buy our Christmas games at F.A.O. Schwarz, so we received games that no one else in town had.

We played tons of games but once we got Dark Tower every other game stayed on the shelf for a long time. Masterpiece was probably a close second.

What phase of childhood? A game I never owned myself and so wanted to play it more than I could was Pay Day. Else I really loved Hotel Tycoon and The Game of Life. Oh And I loved Trap the Cap and if we count the age of 13+ there's Magic: The Gathering

Probably HeroQuest with expansions with my friends. Scrabble with my family.

I'm excited because I got Zombie 15' to play with one of the friends I played Heroquest with when we were in elementary school. We're going to play Zombie 15 first on Black Friday. Hopefully it'll get us playing games together again because he'll play games my wife won't.

Yes! So much so that I replicated the game play by writing a program on my Commodore Vic20 computer.
