This new game on the Pacific Theater thinks to be very interesting , I specially like block games.
However watching at the video and summary of rules Holdfast seems to be very similar to Pacific Victory of Columbia Games, and also shares some mechanisms of the classic Victory in the Pacific.
Does anyone who knows all of them can tell if this is so a mix of both?
Thanks for your input in this matter.

Is this just a sea game, or has land elements too?

Watch the "play in 3" tutorial, there is naval air and land units(marines and such for occupying islands and land zones). Not much details or specifics quite yet, but looks like just the Pacific version will have land units.

Pacific Victory has hexes, as opposed to VIPs areas. I think you need hexes to really get more mileage out of the block fog mechanism personally.
