The star shield is great, because it really feels like an epic adventure with several twists and turns along the way.

Give up and buy it already!
I translated it to Czech for my own (and anyone else's) usage, so I know it has a lot of options and is quite deep.

And the good news for me is - I do not remember nearly a thing from the story now! Luckily I do not have a photographic memory, so with time it all becomes foggy and hazy, so I will be able to play it without spoiling it.

This seems like right thread to ask my question - forgive me if I'm mistaken.

Reading thru some posts, I see people mentioning Legends 1, Legends 2, and so on.

I'm confused to what they are referring to. Are those different editions or perhaps scenarios within the box?

I'm considering ordering this game which is why I'm asking. I don't want to make the same mistake I made with Albion's Legacy where I ordered the first edition!!!

There are 5 legends included in the base game. The numbers simply refer to those legends. There is a small box expansion "the star shield", which adds an additional legend; legend 6. The big box expansion "journey to the north" adds an entirely new board and 4 more legends: 7-10.

There is only a single edition for this game. However, the game was initially published in English by Fantasy Flight Games, who dropped the ball immensely with this game. Later, it was rereleased by Kosmos. Try to avoid buying the FFG edition of you can help it. Kosmos fixed all of the errors in the game. This is however unrelated to the legend numbers used above.

From the base game, legend 5, though it is quite luck-based.

For replayability, Star Shield, but I wish it were a little harder.

All in all, legend 10 so far. I only played it once but loved it.

All of this might change once I play legends 13-17...

In the base game I had the most fun playing the 4th quest (the one you play in the dwarven mines on the back of the board).

I really liked how it plays so different from the other quests:
Since the goal is to collect a certain amount of gold, it's a really hard decision what/how much to buy from the merchant, and while you need to take out some monsters, you must at all cost avoid raising an alarm, so it's all very tense.
It's also quite replayable because of the randomness of the fire bursts and the encounters in the lake.
