I sat down to give v2 a whirl the other day, then gave up when I realised I had to design the forces and write them all up on army sheets. I thought v2 was all about streamlining the game for players - instead by abandoning army cards it seems to have gone backwards to the days of 90s Necromunda...

Anyway, has anyone worked out if it's possible to get together Plague and Enforcer forces for v2 with the figures in the v1 set? A lot of things seemed to have changed figure-wise, but it would be very annoying to have to buy more figures to play a basic game of v2.

Perfectly playable with 1e figures. Basic Enforcers are much better than before - a Sgt, 2 Riflemen and 2 Assaults will fill out 100 points. Put them up against a mixed Plague force and you will have a pretty decent intro.

I'll have to take a closer look; on first glace I thought I didn't have enough figures to make forces becausr the figure types had changed.

Still, not having unit cards anymore sucks, and I would guess was a money-saving decision rather than one made for players.

If you have first edition starters you can absolutely play second ed. As long as you have a second ed. Rulebook. I added a photo that shows how to modify your 1st ed counters for 2nd.

In short you have can play with the minis you have, nothing more is needed.

I big reason to NOT do new unit cards was to make it easier for 1st ed from Folks to jump into 2nd. All one needs is the new rulebook, the command dice are super helpful, but one could play with D6s. The stat cards were convenient, but I'm pretty content to have my rulebook open and flip a couple pages back and forth. We could possible see stat cards in the future, and right now one can easily photocopy their army pages and have them out.

If I was cynical, I'd guess it's also convenient for Mantic to not have to provide unit cards for new figures they produce.

Writing up army list sheets just seems very 90s. It certainly blocked me from just pulling out the game and playing it on this occasion.

Thanks for that pic Michael!

For what it's worth - in my opinion V2 is a much better game

quicker, simpler, deadlier

The command dice are a great addition - I made my own chart to use d6

It sits by the side of the table and is easy to use - put the dice on the relevant numbered section and the description tells you what they do

Nice! Admittedly, the downside, (which your lists elucidate), is that the Enforcer Starter has more points, and thus more versatility in constructing a force. I find that 150pts is a good game, but 200pts is really the sweet spot, and its a bit unfortunate that the 1st edition plague starter doesn't have enough models for a 200pt list.

You're very welcome for the photo! You provide so many great resources for we gamers! Thank you, and I feel happy to be able to return the favor in some way.

Can you suggest a good Plague model or two to bring the Plague list up to 200 pts?

Then again, they can't be bought individually can they, so I suppose I have to get a Plague faction booster set.

Plague swarms are really good they would be my first recommendation, followed by a plague Teraton. Also more plague hounds are great. All of these models are FAST! And groups of Zombies are good even after the faq(I forget how they changed though, sorry.)

I bet you could proxy plague swarms pretty easily with some worm or rat-like creatures on a 40mm base, reaper bones probably has some nice options. Totally worth fielding three of them! You could probably find suitable proxies for plague teratons and hounds too.

The Plague faction booster for 2nd edition comes with a Swarm, a teraton, an aberration (their cool and big) 5 3A's, 5 3Z's (Zombies!) and a mortar team, might be a nice option (though I'd still recommend additional swarms.)

Check out the Mantic Swaps and Trades Facebook group, you might get a good deal on the plague figures.

There are some unit builders starting to appear to help with the hassle of list building.
