triqqy.com has it.

When it first started there were problems with incorrect rules implementations, bugs, and brutal timeout conditions that eliminated players from games while others were expected to continue.

I told myself I'd go back and see if these things were getting fixed, but it has been months since I've visited the site, so I don't know.

5? Years ago you could play it here on the BGG site. That's how I learned to play myself.

iOS version is a very crass & poor implementation. IT doesn't show last player moves properly , it neither highlights them or option to rewind and see the other player moves , so unless you are watching it closely , you are bound to miss.
Ofcourse I asked Coditio but ZERO response.

And that was an incredibly great implementation, and tons of fun to play against other good players.

Seeing as how T&E is my favorite game, they left a hole in my gaming life when they shut that down.

I still don't see how something that great can shut down.

The Android app didn't support online play. I doubt they've added it since I last checked. They almost immediately gave up on it because few people bought it, but of course without online play and weak-ass AI, why would you buy it?

Chicken or egg. Unfortunately, I believe in order to implement great AI and online play, they'd need to charge much more upfront, but such a price would turn away buyers, so it sounds like it was a doomed venture anyways by that token.

IIRC, they mentioned it was taking too much of their time, especially for something that was free.

But the iOS version was doing well. They did charged a premium to it in begining. It's been years since a decent update has been done. They still put it on sale round the year. My suggestion of just highlighting the last players move (like Carcassone or Neuroshima Hex) to be implemented is standing from over 2 years. A game like XenoShyft went through multiple iterations to become super great .

Just my 2 cents.

Yes , I'm aware of how unreasonable I do sound towards Coditio.

Oh, and that's the other thing. IIRC, Codito announced that they were out of the digital bg business, so I wouldn't especially expect an update at this point!

So, I registered at triqqy.com and gave it a try. Apparently the site is still in beta. There was a bug or two, but when I posted a bug report in their forum, the guy developing it immediately went and fixed the issue.

The game itself seems perfectly playable, though there are a still few wrinkles (wonky chat and replay, no manual treasure collection from temples yet) and the lobby interface is a bit strange in places. I finally realized that if you want to play a game, you click the "start a game" button to submit a request. If there are enough matching request, a game gets started. Simple enough.

So, anybody up for a game? I have high hopes for this. I mean, it's the only place you can play T&E online without an ios app.

What you mention is what made it unplayable to me. You can't play very strategically if you don't even get a choice of which treasure to take. And there were other problems as well... I'm sorry to see they haven't been fixed.

Well, my current thinking is like this: "Geez, that's really not good enough yet. Better play a few games, report all bugs and issues I can find and have them fixed until it *is* good enough and I can play T&E online. As opposed to not being able play it at all, as is currently the case."

I like the way you think

I reported these issues in May and they still haven't been fixed. Hopefully with you following up, it will happen.

We will see what comes of it. And you're absolutely right, of course – if things like treasure collection don't get fixed, it's not worth it.

So, what has come of it, you may ask? For one thing, the rules for collecting treasures now work as they should. What's more, I reported a heap of bugs, which lead to a heap of fixes. Scoring, log, chat, conflict rules, treasures, lobby page ... as far as I can tell, everything is now working as it should. The only thing still missing is a unification tile marker.

I'd say it's good enough.

So, if you feel like a game of T&E, come on over. I always have requests for 4- and for 3-player games open, and there are enough reliable players for variety. (I recommend "casual" timing, unless you can schedule a game in advance.)

I tried to join a game but got frustrated with the site again. No clear way to see who's signed up and waiting for a game... I tried to create a game and it didn't come out right... tried to get out of the game I created (drop), but clicking it doesn't do anything....

Overall, the site is not too user-friendly yet. But once you got your game started, it works fine enough.
When you issue an open game request, the game starts as soon as enough people have requested the same kind of game. But it's missing an overview of what games are in the queue.
When klicking doesn't do anything, reload the current page and try again. It's all programmed in HTML5 I think, which makes it slow. I think.

I must admit I'm a bit conflicted about this request system. On the one hand, it's very rational and neat: Nobody needs to open a table, you just tell the site what game you would like to play and it matches your request with other people's to create a new table. Once there is a big enough pool of players, that's very efficient, I suppose.

On the other hand, it does not work well for real-time games, which tend to time out, and it does not take into account who you would like to play with (or not play with, which can be more important). You can of course invite other people to join in your request, but you have to know their nick; there's no way of looking up other other users, or marking them as "friends", or even see who's online. (Not yet?) You can see the queued requests for a game (info > open requests), but you cannot even tell who made that request.

So, yeah. It could be more user-friendly, but with seven games currently running, I won't complain.

I'm now in a 3-player with you and palehorse. I'd tell you hi in the chat box, but I can't get it to work.

Of course, as soon as you tell someone everything should be working now, there's a new bug ... shake

Anyway, glad to be playing with you (and the bug is reported).

Oh, by the way, there is one other site I am aware of: For Whom the Web Rocks. I gather it has been around for ages, 15 years at the very least.

The interface is rather old-school: you send in your moves via email, and there is an actual human being on the other end sorting things out. How exotic.

A new game of T&E just started, so the waiting list is currently empty. It might take a little while till the next game takes off, though.

Sounds like a "Chess by mail" type deal. Eh.. given how some folks are opposed to digital apps, perhaps they'd spring for that

Not quite. You don't need to set up your own board at home; you just mail in your moves instead of clicking in some window. There's a separate page for each game, complete with a basic display of the board, and the site owner takes care of drawing tiles and updating the game site. (There's also a password-protected page for private information like your hand of tiles.)
