So what's the difference between integrates and expands? Is it that games that "integrates" can be play stand alone and expand the original game experience (think "Trains" and "Trains Rising Sun"; "Star Trek DBG TNG" and "Star Trek DBG TOS"), while "expansions" can only be played with the base or core game? Or there is something more?

Correct. Also, note that expansions aren't ranked, while "integrates with" allows the item to be ranked.

The referred text regarding "Expansion"/"Integrates with" must be updated soon: Dominion: Intrigue integrates with Dominion and vice versa, but Dominion: Intrigue (Second Edition) is an expansion of Dominion (Second Edition), since the base cards are removed.

Why redefine the terms? The two editions are listed separately (and classified exactly as you describe).

In the interest of giving credit where credit is due, my avatar is a scan of a hand-drawn caricature by cartoonist Jim Naylor which was done at my company's 20th anniversary dinner.

He's not suggesting re-defining the terms.

He is suggesting that Dominion: Intrigue might not be the best example to use in the descriptions of them since, especially as the first edition goes out of print, people may not realise that it refers specifically to the first edition and that the second edition (that they own) is a different database entry and not a valid example.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

I made a note about Dominion: Intrigue (Second Edition) to point out that they are different.
