Does anyone want to teach me the ropes of this game in either forum play or e-mail play?

I own a copy, and also a copy of General magazine that describes the rules for playing by (then snail-)mail, and it seems like it would still work fine.

Do you know about Vassal?

I would recommend PBEM using Vassal. We have come a long way from snail mail games. I just picked up that same copy and read it myself a week ago.

What a coincidence.

Happy to show you how Vassal works.

Not a fan of it because of the computer interface.
Thanks for the offer, though.
(FYI I was in 3/11 ACR from 88 to 90 in Bad Hersfeld; I saw your tag).

vassal definitely slows down play, in my opinion. with any game... but it definitely has its benefits when it comes to tear down/set up and portability which is great if you don't have a dedicated space for gaming.

And cavalry is just glorified tankers... real men jump out of airplanes and rappel from helicopters...

I tried Vassal for a different game a couple times with a non-wargaming friend, and thought it was pretty good for what it was.

I would definitely be open to a VITP vassal game sometime, with someone.

I am in EST zone.

I think Vassal is more likely than a face to face for me, because the local gaming club likes to play new games, and Euros, but I want to play classics mainly.

Dane, was your idea to just exchange text descriptions of moves?

It does work, but if I'm right in guessing that this is the simultaneous-move system, then it makes for a very different game.

Cyberboard is similar to Vassal and even lower-tech.
