After the success of their game Moscow '41, released last summer, VentoNuovo Games is bringing out a 'sister,' called Leningrad '41, looking at the struggle between Army Group North and the Soviet Northern Front.
While Moscow gets much of the attention for the opening days of Barbarossa, capturing Leningrad could have been a real 'game changer' for the Germans. It was a major industrial area, the base of the Soviet Baltic Fleet, and an important political symbol (as the "birthplace" of the Revolution.) This mattered.
While the basic game engine is the same as Moscow '41, there are a few tweaks for the different terrain and situation (and the Germans have Finnish allies!). M41 players will pick it up fast. New folks will enjoy it quickly as well. Marco Arnaudo gave M41 real praise for how much "game" it packs in with relatively light rules.
Launch will happen about 2pm Central US time on Nov 16, and there is a nice "contest" for Early Birds.
Here is a link to find it.
