Hello,

I need recommendations what you'd pull out on the table if you only had around 1 hour of time and you needed to play with 3-4 players.

I'd prefer it wasn't a typical party-style game and something more board-like but I really want to know what are your best picks for 1 hour time limit and 3-4 players.

Thanks !

Do you need to teach them the rules in that time?

Are they regular gamers?

Sounds weird but Dream Home was what we played when we had one hour left. It looks childish, but there is some interesting game play in the box.

I think it's one of the best games out there. Setup is 2-3 minutes and most games finish in 45 minutes.

[edit] Poker chips are a must. It probably takes longer using paper money.

Another vote for Isle of Skye. Five rounds, each round is pretty quick. Hardest and longest decision is where to place your tiles.

Forbidden Island will play a bit faster but within the hour you can also teach the game.

To cut down on setup time, I'd probably go with some card games. San Juan, Race for the Galaxy, Bohnanza.

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars, where you will be forced to drift aimlessly farther into the vast, empty abyss of space until a lack of food, water and oxygen causes you to succumb to Death's cold embrace.

Yeah, excellent choice right here.

Pick this one.

Ignore everyone else.

Another vote from me. Currently writing an AI to play against (I'm aware there exists already one for IOS). Easy to start with, but shows real greatness on repeated play.

Then Chicago Express definitely fits the bill. Really easy game to teach, but the entire game is playing the other players. When you make a mistake, you'll know immediately.

It should be mentioned this game is highly interactive. All decisions affect all players all the time.

I think we'd play Race for the Galaxy, Stone Age, 7 WondersIstanbul,La Isla or when in the right mood Pandemic. That's all definitely excluding teaching time though.

If I'd have to teach it within the hour too, then it'll be lighter games. Maybe Splendor, Ubongo, Codenames, Blokus or any not too serious card game.
