Most of the team games I've seen are either all vs 1, or of the social deduction / hidden traitor type. Are there any good 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 (or even 3v2, 3v4) board games? I'm looking for something where the teams are known and they are strictly working together to defeat the other team.

Galaxy Defenders or Shadowrun: Crossfire. Everyone is on the same team in those games.

Wings of Glory actually gets better the more players you have, definitely team vs team. I've played as many as 30 on a table and had a blast.

1775, 1812, that whole line is 2v2.

I love team gaming. Has so many advantages.

My absolute favorite 2v2 game is still Tiddledy Winks. Played by the official rules it is just great.

Codenames fits the bill. Not sure if it's the type of game you're after though.

I happen to think Iliad is a great 2v2 or 2v2v2 game.

Anyway, here's a list:
List of Team-based Board Games (2v2, 3v3, 2v2v2, partnerships, etc.)

Team Play is a solid team filler for a card game. Can be two teams of two or three teams of two.

I asked this same question a few weeks ago.

One thing I've had success with is turning games that weren't meant to be team games into team games. Not altering the rules at all but just combining scores at the end. Indigo worked really well in that way. Obviously not all games will. Just an idea to keep in mind.

Duel of Ages II! Supports everything from 1 vs. 1 to epic battles between multiple teams. It's not even required to have equally sized teams.

If you want a team game that is not partyish then I suggest Cyclades with the Cyclades: Titans

2v2v2 is a fantastic experience and my favorite team game that doesn't feel light weight.

Wars of the Roses: Lancaster vs. York - Interesting because it is 2v2 but you plan independently so you can end up stepping on each other a bit. Beautiful game as well.

I really like the partnership version of Lost Cities. It requires two copies of the game, but I think it elevates an already-great design.

Scythe actually just received a team variant which sounds really cool. This game could have big potential for team play even with different gaming styles around the table. You could have a combat heavy and a euro fan on the same team and each would have a personally unique experience as one took mechs and fought to defend the Euro player as they collect the resources needed to put stars on the board. Like I said the potential is there and there is a forum dedicated to this very same topic on the games page.

Well, Orcs Must Die is about to be released any time soon. If you buy both base games, it supports a 4vs4 team game.
