Subject: Numbered Battle spaces rss

This is less of a specific rules question, and more of a general inquiry.

I see that the top row of the numbered Battle spaces are not in sequence, as they are in the adjacent enemy spaces. However, I couldn't see a reason why this would be the case. Seeing as you fill the gaps with the unit with the highest defense value, it doesn't appear to serve any purpose.

Did I miss something? If I didn't use these spaces for anything other than initial placement, did I do something wrong?

No, you didn't do anything wrong there. The top row is numbered just to qualify as "numbered spaces", and it's staggered the way it is just so the enemy forces don't "look" oddly weighted to one side or the other.

OK, cool. I didn't think it had any effect, but it was niggling in my mind that there was a reason. And there is. Aesthetics.
