Hello!

We are a couple of bumbling idiots who have never used YouTube before (some of us didn’t even have Gmail accounts) who decided start making videos about the Arkham Horror LCG.

We are very happy to take requests and suggestions. A lot of our subjects have come from player discussions here. People talked about how many core sets you need so we included that information in our unboxing. There was a thread about sleeves so we made an introduction to sleeving. Prospective LCG players have asked about deckbuilding so today’s upload was how easy the starter decks are to build.

We don’t get sent products to review or have to talk about lots of different games because it is our day job. We aren’t sponsored by anyone either. You won’t see us appearing in the videos because it’s not about us being famous gaming celebrities. We don’t have a need for Twitter or Facebook pages. We are just here because we like the game and are looking forward to playing it more. Because we don’t believe that written rules are the best way to teach players new games we are just trying to be helpful.

We got together yesterday to shoot a setting up the game tutorial (because people have mentioned 65 minute setup times) but we ended up playing through the campaign with some new players instead. We had tons of fun and so will meet up over the weekend and try and have it ready for Monday.

It looks like we will aim to post 3 times a week. Some of us wanted to do daily updates but then when would we get to play right?

You can message us through Youtube or post here if you have anything you would like us to look at or anything you want to tell us.

We’ve got kind of a mission statement (sounds super cringy right) that hopefully ensures we always do the right thing.

So… um… hi. We’re new here. Any requests?

Your faceless Arkham Chronicle reporters.

I'd like to see more options available for sleeving my cards... surely there is a better option that would offer more protection than the plastic enclosure with the rare earth magnet.

I would like to see walktrough of each investigation on how each is meant to be played. What are their strengths and weaknesses? Maybe talk about the Cards that they have in their deck. Which ones are high tier and so on..

This is a good idea - I'd second this.

I too like your show and how you've talked about it etc.

Investigator spotlights have been on our mind for some time.

The problem we have found is there is no one deck fits all. A deck for solo play may be very different from multiplayer. A deck for one scenario may be very different from another.

But certain things don’t change such as the Investigator’s special abilities, classes and mandatory cards so we will find plenty of things to talk about.

We shot lots of footage for the setup video today. And played 3 more games too

And yes, we hear you. MORE PROTECTION!

I watched your videos, and really enjoyed them. The content is good, and your sense of humour is better Keep up the good work.

I always love to see playthroughs, so that would be my suggestion. For me, it provides the best opportunity to learn from others, to see the mechanism and cards in motion and to get different perspectives on strategic and tactical options.

Thank you all so much for your positive words of encouragement. Quite different from other parts of the Internet.

Today’s video is about the Stats of each Investigator and how they compare to each other to help you choose which investigator, or team of investigators to play.

We shot the footage for the game setup video and that is being edited.

We are planning out the individual investigator spotlight videos.

We are also planning a video on explaining the Round Sequence and what happens when.

We are looking into doing a couple of videos about storage. Using Binders and Pocket Pages, using long boxes and finally custom made cases. We also want to look at boxes for individual decks as players may want to bring their own deck to a convention or event like Arkham Nights, or just to your friend’s house who has their own core set.

Obviously there is tons for us to talk about but if you have something specific you want to see we will try and make sure that is the video we make first. It’s about you getting good information not about us becoming YouTube stars.

We have a couple of problems this week. The chap who uploads our videos had his broadband go down till this Thursday. It’s a fault in the Fibre Optic box on his street [technobabble] so the Wednesday upload might be a bit late. Sorry if it is.

As we record our videos using natural daylight and it has been raining for three days solid conditions mean that we haven’t been able to shoot anything that looks good enough to show you. Using artificial light reflects off the sleeves/ cards/ plank of wood too much.

But these are our problems, and we will solve them.

Thank you again so much for being so kind to us, we appreciate it tremendously.

The faceless Arkham Chronicle guys.

Right now it looks like you're just explaining various things from the rulebook, which isn't much use to those of us who already understand how to play the game. Are you planning to do any in-depth strategy discussion at some point? Or maybe something similar to the LotR Progression Series?

Hi Aaron.

The rules and the setup (and how bad/ hard to learn it is) is what people are shouting about loudest at the moment. Plus as the game has just launched and new people are picking it up all the time covering these basics at this stage when there is just one box seems like the best course of action.

Our first game setup video is being edited and I am told it will be finished on Friday. We are also editing a “Round Sequence” video. Other subjects like Combat could also do with some videos.

Once these are in the bag we can get on to more editorial and strategy based stuff. And parodies, speedruns, live-action recreations, accessory reviews, event coverage and drinking games. Or whatever.

Given that we created this account and started this thread to listen to what people actually want to see, what do you want to see Aaron? And everyone. What do you want to see?

I'll be tuning in once you get to some of this. Also welcome any talk of scenario-specific strategy, individual card discussion, deck archetypes, and the meta game as it develops.

Today’s fun fact is that we usually shoot in a basement next to a window. Yesterday it got too dark to shoot at 3pm! We know right!
And it turns out Windows Movie Maker is rubbish at replacing audio. Because we weren’t happy with the sound quality for about four seconds we reshot the video this morning.

We also have no idea how YouTube works. It seems there could be lots of options like playlists that could help us out but we just don’t have time to learn it all.

Thanks to everyone who has been saying nice things about us. We will keep trying hard to make sure we deserve that praise.

The setup video is still in editing. We are really sorry about that as it is a video that we hoped would be out by now but the guy who said he would do it for us lost his job and his house this month so we can’t really chase him up. He’s had to sell one of his computers so we're not sure where our footage is.

But these are all our problems that you don’t need to worry about. We will fix them.

Enjoy today’s video all about Skill Boosters.

Just to let you know that the Wednesday video is now up

https://youtu.be/hyp51oAFu-k

Is it us or is YouTube being rude with our links.

Hopefully you will see a bit more analysis in our videos as we break cards down by class in the next few topics.

Today was Assets

Friday will be Allies

Monday could be Skill cards but that depends on if we receive a package on Friday or not. If we do receive a package it will be a Dunwich Legacy unboxing.

Ha ha. You totally spat coffee over your keyboard. We are joking. We don’t get review copies. We have to buy everything with our housekeeping money That means eating instant noodles for another month *sigh*

Thank you for more than 100 Subscribers and thank you for more than 1000 views on our first ever video. We find it shocking and heart-warming in equal measure.

Hey There Geekers.

Just to let you know that the Friday video is now up.

https://youtu.be/54JBNROkTM8

We did receive a package thanks for asking. Unfortunately most of us were rendered unconscious from the impact of the massive import duty. We aren’t kidding!

If you want to know what was in it we will tell you…

In the only way we know how. Through a video. A really bad one.

https://youtu.be/JSgRSt4l8x0

Ken, thank you so much for the kind words. Turns out making videos (even crappy ones like ours) is hard work. And being locked in a room editing with your friend and hearing the word “Slot” for the 900th time makes you literally want to kill each other

Don P we haven’t forgotten you!

Yesterday we shot the Roland Banks video and today we shot the Daisy Duke video. They might appear next week depending on our mystery unboxing video.

Again, any requests just shout.

Hey There Geekers.

On Monday there will be a Curse of the Rougarou video where we tell you a bit more about the product and show you what it actually looks like. But no spoilers.

Then we plan on doing a Rougarou setup video as its instructions seem kind of strange and there have been about half a dozen or threads about it her on the Geek.

We have been shooting Investigator videos! Tell us which one you would like to see first and we will make it happen.

We (will) have a video about Skill checks as that is the most basic mechanic of the game and one about Skill cards as people keep asking when and how you play them. Hey look, there is another question about them.

Then it is up to you guys. We are all ears.

Your Humble Chroniclers.

Today we started our series on the Investigators.

Each one will have their own video spotlighting them. We discuss their numerical Stats compared to their peers, their Special Ability and Elder Sign Effect. We walk you through their Bonus Card and then their Weakness. We see how they stack up Solo and Multiplayer as well as how they play with one Core Set before looking at their ideal partner for a two player or double handed game. Then we look at each of their XP choices too. Wow! These videos are huge.

We hope you find them useful.

https://youtu.be/4_GOz7EMiQs

It looks like this week Carnevale of Horrors will arrive in our grotto. Like Rougarou we will have an unboxing which is spoiler free to tell people what it is and how to get it. Then we will have a setup videos showing you how to prepare your first play.

As we are running out of December Dunwich Legacy should be with us soon. And that will spawn a million videos including five new investigator spotlights. We have asked if we can get a copy early and are still waiting for a reply.

We are working on a video all about ordering direct from Fantasy Flight Games if you are an overseas customer and how you can save money by teaming up with other gamers in your country.

We have also been thinking about accessories. It’s probably too late for Christmas but things like sleeves, playmats, deck boxes and collection storage can all improve the longevity of your game and make ideal stocking fillers.

As always if you can think of any topic we can make a video about it.

Such as our forthcoming how to play AH:TCG in the bath.

Thanks for listening and for being so kind to us. Now tell us what you want to see.

Woo Hoo!

We are no longer a New User!

Gosh we feel old

Clearly this prompts some kind of bonus video or giveaway.

Our Investigator spotlight series is almost done but was interrupted by the Carnevale Unboxing and setup videos.

We will be making Spotlights for all the newly revealed investigators once we have had a chance to play them and figure out how they work.

We are also doing setup videos for the scenarios in the core game. Because going from the tutorial to Midnight Masks can be quite a step up.

As always any requests let us know, and why not stop into our Dunwich Legacy Thread too.

Am I to infer that YouTube has unlocked some level 10 achievement for you? Please don't horde them to yourself. ... sounds like it's for a video upload, just a teaser about this epic milestone. or maybe you've oversold this one?

Thanks for the vids.

I think spotlights on the different types of card - say weapons, spells, tomes - could be quite interesting, especially with the Dunwich ones coming...

Well this whole experience has been pretty surreal for us.

To David: The above post was about having our “BGG New User” flag (the blue and green one) removed because we have been here a month. But we are still very much noobs to YouTube and BGG.

Two amazing things happened today.

Someone sent us free stuff in the post. We got our first review copy of something (no it’s not Dunwich). It will appear in a video in future. And after we have posted the video we will give it away because you are awesome.

And at almost the same time someone tipped us 50 geek gold! Each time we upload a video to the video section we get one gold so that’s like 50 videos and we haven’t even thought up that many let alone filmed that amount. We have never heard of this guy before and he does that. It feels like Christmas! OK, maybe wrong metaphor. But thank you masked stranger, thank you sincerely. We just make crappy videos on YouTube and you made us feel like rockstars!

To Andrew: We were filming an episode all about firearms and we were going to call it “this is my boomstick!” because we are basically childish idiots But we are going to wait and include Jenny’s pistols as they are quite distinctive. Likewise we we’re going to do one on healing called “Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor not a cultist.” (See above about idiots) But more healing cards came out in Dunwich so back to the drawing board for that one. But yes, more videos about topics and groups of cards.

Thank you all so much for being so kind to us.

Oh and let us know what kind of video you want us to make for the Dunwich Legacy box when it finally arrives please.

At your service,

The Arkham Chronicle Gang
