I understand that most of us would love to keep everything in our copy of this wonderful game in best possible pristine condition.

I have tried opening the envelope slowly and with the hairdryer method but the strong glue has prevented me from any success. I have thought of slicing the edge of the envelope open but decided not too as I do not want the contents to drop out and create a mess especially when there are ten opened envelopes later on.

Thus I have created a video on how I cut my envelopes and hope it will help those who are searching for alternatives.

Here is the link to the video:

All you need is paraffin to dissolve the adhesive.
Apply with a brush and wait a few minutes.
The adhesive softens and is easy to peel off.
The adhesive can be removed with a paper towel.
Then paraffin evaporates without a trace.

You're probably referring to what we call "kerosene" in the US?

Kerosene is usually called paraffin in the United Kingdom.

Thank you for your suggestion =) Anyway, I am just sharing another alternative which I am currently using, especially for those who want to use the penknife method =)

So you apply it with a brush on the outside of the envelope where the flap is and it melts the glue?

Apply over the edge of the flap. But if the envelope is made of glossy paper it is best to apply it under the flap.

Does it leave a scent or any other residue?

Are there any other solutions that would also work ? I dont usually have kerosene on hand...maybe some kind of alcohol ?

I tried with paraffin oil, which was the closet I could find, It worked wonders on a test envelope, with actual envelope glue, but did nothing on the mech vs minion envelope. It seams to be a different kind of glue. I also tried freezing an envelope but the result was the no different. If anyone actually did this, please post a picture of the oil used.

I tried benzine and had the same experience. The glue was not dissolved. Not one bit.

Apparently, the high quality of MvM is also reflected in the quality of its envelopes' glue.
I gave up opening them "nicely" and just cut through the envelopes.
