Hello,

With "The Golden Ages: Cults & Culture", the new Culture Track is used to determine the new start player but the other players follow in clockwise order...

Why the culture track is not used to determine the order of all the players (2nd players on the culture track is the second player, and so on...) ?

Teuf.

Because turn order would be constantly changing mid-turn as people moved up the culture track. Or you would lose track of the correct order if you tried to ignore the changes until a new age.

That's not much of a reason. Lots of games have ways to record the turn order until it resets the next time.

The basic issue is some people prefer to always play clockwise because it's simpler to keep track of whose turn it is, and some people prefer to "earn" every position in the turn order. Designers often choose clockwise to cater to the people who don't want too much complexity.

I asked the same question some time ago. The response was that it can be confusing and it also added time to the game. That said, i do play using the culture track for player order for all players. We only change player order at the very beginning of each era, to see who reveals leader and then then map tile, as the start player and then following the culture track. We use the leader to break ties on the culture track. This variant works for us and has provided some interesting decisions as far as taking an extra action to increase culture to be able to move up in turn order.

Thank you for your answers !

I would try the Jeff's variant the next time. It seems better
especially for the player to the right of the first
