Hello, I hope this is the right forum to ask and that the community can help me (I couldn't find a similar thread).

I sleeve a lot of my cards and in the past I always used FFG-Sleeves.
Recently I used Dragon Shield Sleeves (FFG-Sleeves wouldn't fit) because I bought a kickstarter deck building card game which I often play and there are also some kickstarter exclusvie cards.

After 2 weeks I already noticed card wear although I never played the game without sleeves. I use clear sleeves which came in boxes of 100 and I know that this are premium sleeves.

Could I've received some sleeves which weren't produced properly?
Am I shuffling the cards wrong?
Are the cards the problem (they seem to be good, linen finish and so on)
Did I put the cards wrong into the sleeves?

I never had any problems before.
Each tenth card shows wear (white points) at the corner, often bottom right (front or back).

Thank you

Could the damage have occurred when you placed the cards into the sleeves?

It's seems like a possibility if the damaged cards are all affected in the same place.

Just a thought.

I already sleeved some other games and it never happened but it was also a guess of me therefore I listed it.

I thought some more experienced users could have other conclusions^^

Thank you for the response.

Could be part of cutting at the manufacturer. Do you have a picture?

Another reason for it could be the storage??? -> unlikely

Hero Realms is by far my favourite game right now and I didn't play it a lot, never without sleeves.

The card shown isn't even shuffled...

It's a deck builder and I do not want to recognize some cards by the back...

There are also some kickstarter promos which I can't replace...

Right now it isn't a drama but I do not want that it becomes worse...

I never had problems with other games and there are some which I sleeved.

I hope here are some experts which can help me.

Maybe I put the cards wrong into the sleeves??? o.O

Not an sleeves expert on the field, but seems like cheap crappy sleeves you used.
Or it could quite simply be quality of the paper they used to print the cards on.

Sometimes I slightly damage cards when inserting them in the sleeve.

Thank you.
In my opinion this is the most realistic reason why they are damaged.
Thank you for the answers/upcoming answers

A chip on the bottom like that is highly likely when you were inserting them.

Yep. Go onto the game's forum and ask if anyone had the same problem.

fwiw, A black felt tip pen should do the trick, although might have a different amount of glossiness, so be careful when touching up.

Have you had the same problem with the same sleeves with other cards?

Yeah, it looks like a small nick from careless sleeving.

I received the game at the games fair Spiel 16 in Essen in the middle of october. There are still some people waiting for the kickstarter project to be shipped. A lot of people just recently received it.

Thank you for the hint.

It was the first time using dragon shield sleeves, previously I always used ffg-sleeves.

Lesson learned.
I wouldn't have thought it is possible to damage them.
I am usually very carefull with my components.

Could the wear become even worse because the card slides in the sleeve?
It is not a tragedy but still annoying!

There are just some cards with the problem and the card shown is the card most affected... ;(

Man, I don't pay attention to 'damage' like that at all. Seriously... You need a loupe for that. wow
And some cards actually come out like that straight out of the box.
You probably never saw a good old deck of playing cards which become grey, rubbed and 'fluffy' with use...

Could mash shuffle damage them?

I always wondered why other kind of sleeves exist beside clear sleeves.
Is card wear the main reason?
If you play a deck building game (like me) cards could be marked.

Don't think of it as damage, think of it as character brought about through adversity.

I don't think mash shuffling would do that. I don't think the wear will spread. I also don't think you will ever buy a game with black bordered cards that will be totally ding free. Those nicks were either already there or were the result of sleeving. They are nothing to worry about and were probably not worth creating a thread for.

Well, for me it was worth it to talk about it because I was interested in it.
After talking in the forum for the game it seems it happened while sleeving the cards and that the card quality isn't the best, some cards might also have been affected before unboxing.

Some people have a bad habit of bending cards while holding them. I hate those people.

I do think I managed to create some little nicks on some cards when sleeving them wih Dragon Shield. This doesn't seem to have happened with Fantasy Flight or Ultra Pro. The nicks are fairly minor, but I did spot them. I am not expecting them to get worse and sometimes I could smooth over the nick with gentle pressure. My guess is the sleeve is harder/more rigid and a little more care is needed when sleeving.
