I'm really quite glad none of the ones that aren't on my bookshelf made the cut - it means I might have an excuse to clear that backlog.

What's needed for a good discussion is a book with some controversy. Irrespective of that : with Christmas approaching I need some good titles to put on my Amazon wishlist for friends and relatives to pick presents from, so I'm always looking at what's recommended here.

Hmm ....

In Round Two there were 66 Voters.

There is currently only a 3 vote difference between the two top books, with 54 votes in all.

That's a Palm Pilot on the left, and a pink iPod mini on the right. Yes, I've been doing BGTG that long!

Ok, cool. I'm keep pulling for Distant Mirror, and maybe its 2nd place finish will mean it can win next time. For now, I'm downloading In The Name Of Rome on audible.com immediately...

Thanks to Hungadunga for keeping the fire burning for the military history book club here on BGG!

Can't leave the poll open forever. The Goldsworthy book was ahead by 5 yesterday.

No one can defeat the quad laser. Now, where shall I drape this wet, primitive Earth towel?

I have another Adrian Goldsworthy book in the queue (Caesar: Life of a Colossus) that I have not started yet, so this will be my first one of his.

He has a couple of books on the nature of Roman armies that I want to check out someday - as I know nothing about the subject.

I'm always on the lookout for a good copy of SPQR, though...

Hi all! We have our book, which is 400 pages.

Is 6 weeks long enough to prepare for discussion? More time? Less?

Just ordered the book on Amazon.

The fastest delay to receive it was between December 7 and 14.

So mid-january to start the discussion seems ok for me.
