I know there is an option to search only in thread subject titles, but even when you do you still get every post in the thread with the keyword.

What I'd like is a way to search thread titles for a keyword and then list every thread in which that word appears in the title. I want a list of threads, each one listed once and only once.

Not sure if I'm being clear, so for example, if I search for the term "Time Travel", I don't want to see:

Subject: Re: Is there a board game involving time travel?
-Post 1 in "Is there a board game involving time travel?"

Subject: Re: Is there a board game involving time travel?
-Post 2 in "Is there a board game involving time travel?"

Subject: Re: Is there a board game involving time travel?
-Post 3 in "Is there a board game involving time travel?"

etc.

Instead, I just want to see a single link to the thread "Is there a board game involving time travel?", followed by a single link to the next thread that mentions time travel, etc. Or at least the option to display search results like that.

So my search results would look like this:

Subject: "Is there a board game involving time travel?"
Subject: "Time Travel"
Subject: "Games with Time Travel"
and so on.

Possible?

This has been asked before. And, I believe, by me as well, at one point!

Type this into the search bar: "Time travel" -Re:

I believe that will do what you seek.

EDIT: Ha ha, I ninja'd Sphere!

Someone showed me the trick a while back, and I'll pass it on. What you need to do is add "-re". In other words, search for "Time Travel -re" and you'll only get one return per thread.

edit: If I could truly Time Travel, I'd make my answer appear before Hoya's.

I did in fact try to search for previous threads dealing with this topic. The search results - 20+ pages of individual posts from the same few threads - served to exemplify my problem and frustration

That trick does seem to give me the results I want. Thanks!

What if people start removing the Re: manually, though.

There always has to be one, doesn't there?

I just tried this technique to find this very thread. Upon adding the -Re:, I can't even find the first post of this thread for some reason. It shows up fine without adding the -Re: though.

It makes me wonder if your reply, without the Re:, broke the search.
