Hey guys,
I'm seeking help. I bought the game from my FLGS and brought it home to put together the components. After the wife and I's first rules play through, disaster struck! When folding in the stand on a starling a terrible snap was heard... the female receptor on the starling broke! Now it can't accept the ball shaped end and can't be used in the game. First time. I contacted Plaid Hat with no response after little over a week (email and online request form). Superglue didn't hold either.
Suggestions? I could hard glue it but then couldn't tilt, which is important to the game.
Thanks!

Plaid Hat has the best customer service of any company I have ever contacted. If you don't hear from them try again -- they are very serious about taking care of their customers.

Try contacting them again. Failing that you'll need the right type of glue to hold the piece and Im not sure what would work for a high stress point like that.

One possibility is if you have access to the tools is to drill and pin the pieces back together. That will re-inforce that stress point too.

I had a similar experience although 2 of my receptors are cracked and one is broken. While I think these stands are really cool I don't like how fragile they are. I contacted Asmodee for replacement parts. I'm sure they will help out but I'm more concerned that this may happen again. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with an alternate solution for these bases. An idea came to mind... if I could attach a small ball bearing on the end of the rod and put a really tiny and strong magnet on the base of the bird I'm hoping it would give a strong enough hold that the bird wouldn't fall off and I could still get the tilting effect.

I put auf small metal ball on the rod and ring magnet on the bild. That works very well!

Since this isnt happening very often. But IS happening sometimes frequently in a single box. I suspect it was a single bad mix of the transparent plastic. Making it too brittle.

If you can find the right fit you could make a metal rod and ball and just paint the rod blue or such.

Problem there might be the metal ball could cause the socket to then crack if you get the size too big.
