Playing the wrath of Anu last night and Conan want to throw an exploding orb from the ground floor of the inn over the hand railing to the second floor. First argument is does the hand railing block line of sight? Can you throw an object to an upper elevation? We agreed, and this could be wrong, that he had line of sight but needed a -2 to his complex manipulation results for the elevation change.

Anyone seen anything in the rules or official answer?

What is your opinion?

Thanks,

The rules say that you determine how the scenary effects LoS and Movement (though for the Leap and Climb skill the scenarios provide direction).

Personally, if the bannister blocks LoS then the map becomes very closed off (and it is illogical).

As for elevation; some scenarios talk of elevation but then other scenarios on the same map omit it (and the scenarios in the inn dont talk of the second floor or the bar being elevated).

I think the second floor shooting down to the ground should be elevated.

Having said that, there is no modifier when shooting up an elevation (so you ruling the -2 is a house rule).

Additionally, as the throwing of the Orb is a manipulation (not a ranged attack), it would not recieve the elevation bonus yellow die (but I think it should for the range roll).

Note: the range and damage are 2 separate rolls for this item (notice there is no + sign next to the dice? That is your only clue to how this item really works...)

Hope that helps
