I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for light 8+ player games

Some bits:

I hate CAH – not as it’s rude – but because there is no imagination on the player’s part

I don’t mind if it’s teams – as long as it really is team play, and not just an excuse to pretend the game plays with more people

Simple rules – would be very helpful

Here is a list of what I already have, any other suggestions [I think this is complete]:

First number is best for, second is max number of players

I have a load for less players – but am looking for more for the bigger player counts

Thanks for any suggestions

Any price, IP, OoP, any type of lighter game… and if it’s teachable to 8+ people then even some ‘heavier’ games may well be of interest

Tried to clean it up for you using Notepad (not excel - cells don't translate well here) and the "Code" markup, adding extra tab spaces where needed. I moved one to the bottom since the first section overlaps slightly due to the game name's length. Hope that helps!

Thanks Matt

Thanks Dale

Dale from your list:

Avalon - is already on my list

Taboo - is on my list

My mistake I did not want to put my games with smaller player counts on this list [as it would be confusing] - so... when I put them into alphabetical order - they went alphabetical but in groups based on the max number of players... so I have done the list in a confusing way – sorry

Continuing on your [Dale’s] list:

Spot it! – I got a small demo version, with some other game [?] and I didn’t think much of it… will look into it again – thanks

Formula D – I have been looking for this one, for a Loooooong time – but I think it is OoP, keep thinking they must do a new run of them [UK/EU] soon. So this has been on my radar - thanks

Finally

Robo Rally – is a new one for me, so thanks

Pit – we love Panic on New York, so this should be a very good choice – thanks

So far I have:

To check out:
Spot it!

To Buy:
Formula D
Robo Rally
Pit

I should have explained, we have one new game every week – then the best of older games we have played

Thanks again

Thanks for that

Though I have Time's Up!

It's not on my list above - as it's not rated [as being good] for more than 6 people

But appreciate the help

Thanks for posting this question. I am going to research a few of the games on the list. We just started exploring games for a game night at work. We are testing out games with about 5 people to see which might be easy to learn and fun for a larger group of 8-12. Our first 2 games were One Night Ultimate Vampire and the other was Sushi Go Party. We thought One Night Ultimate Vampire might be tough with a larger group because you need to grab playing pieces quickly. Sushi Go Party was a fun one. I looked at the Pact but it seemed fairly complicated so we are holding off on that one for now.

The Captain is Dead (7, co-op, fairly light)

Citadels (8, relatively light)

Keyflower (only to 6, and not the lightest, but works excellently at max players)

Quartermaster General
(also works excellently at 6, and is way lighter than you think while still being an excellent, 1.5-hour wargame)

Impulse (also to 6; has a learning speedbump in that once you wrap your head around the core card mechanisms it's smooth like oiled clockwork, but that very first turn will crawl until it clicks. Just trust that it will click. )

Argent: the Consortium ("We were so caught up in seeing if we could that we never stopped to ask if we should!" But it does go up to seven if you reeeeeally want to... devil )

Panic on Wall Street! is great for parties. Parties are always best when people are yelling at the top of their lungs.
