I love you guys. I mean, you're crazy, but you're my kind of crazy.

See you next year (and/or on the cruise, the Spring Con, etc.)!

It hasn't yet, so I imagine it never will...

Being back at work today was rough! Thankfully, it is a short week.

Ok, I have never been to a BGG Con and have seen two listed, one in May and one in Nov. I plan on attending in 2017 but not sure what the differences are. Other than the obvious - date, what is the difference between the two? More people attend the Nov one? More venders in May? Can someone please advise. I'm a military board gamer and looking for others in that category. Thanks for all your help and patience.

November is the original time of BGGCON. It has the most vendors. It is the most well known and well attended. It can be difficult to get a ticket. It has a number of traditional events. It has the new games from Essen and the humongous BGG library. Young people need to be at least 12, I think, to attend.

May is one of the ways that the original BGGCON has expanded over the years. Originally it was described as a family convention because children of all ages were welcomed and invited (although they are clear that there is no day care for these children). Tickets are considerably easier to come by. Vendors come to this one as well but not as many yet, because this convention is still growing its reputation. The traditional events are also developing with time. Instead of the new Essen games, this one features the Spiel des Jahres candidates for the year. It also has the identical library offered at the November event.

As an added bonus due to your military background, the spring event happens over Memorial Day weekend and they offer a discount to veterans.

I hope this helps! There are probably a few details that I left out but those are the highlights of the main differences.

Just be aware that badges sold out in two hours last year. Many people are expecting it to only take minutes next year. In a couple more years, it's moving to a new larger space but until then, tickets will be difficult.

Because of that, I may well miss BGG.CON 2017.

I will undoubtedly be at work at the moment registration opens up. If I am in a long meeting, or otherwise unable to access the Internet, I may not be able to register. I'd be too far down on any wait list to have any chance.

I do not consider the Memorial Day BGG convention as an option - there's a local con I attend that weekend. Perhaps I need to consider the Dice Tower convention in Orlando FL - then again, that would probably fill up in 15 minutes...

Last year it was March 4th. My guess it will be about that time this year.

Is there any good way to be notified when registration goes live? Twitter or something similar? I mean, I'm subscribed to the forum but I don't want to have to rely on constantly refreshing BGG (particularly at work) to make sure I don't miss the window.

Last year, the date and time of registration opening was announced more than a week earlier. I assume you'll get similar waning this year. As long as you check every few days, you should be prepared.

I think that is one of the things that screwed up last year. I hope that they DON'T announce a date and time. I hope that it just lands. If you're involved in the community, you'll know when it lands.

I'm not sure whether you meant it that way, but what you said sounds very elitist... I'm an avid boardgamer, I'm on BGG a few hours a day - and I don't know how I'd just magically know when it happens.

You make it sound like newcomers are not welcome to the Old Boys Club. Like "If you have to ask, you're not invited."

If that attitude is prevalent, I'd rather keep my distance - thank you very much.

My apologies if I have misunderstood.
