Want to play Lords of Waterdeep with my game group tomorrow and it looks like everyone is going to show up. Does this game work well with 5 players?

oh yes, I believe it scales extremely well with 5, everything is so tight!

But that's just my opinion.

Works great. And even better if you have the expansion.

Plan on it taking a little longer than usual though.

Yes, it plays well with 5. Take advantage of the buildings to make more room on the board and earn some bonus resources.

It's fine and really best at 4 and 5.

I guess I'm the dissenting opinion, as my experience with 5 players is that it is too long. Those who've played with me still enjoy the game, but consensus is they'd rather play with fewer people on their next game.

[Correction: We played with 6 in the game that went too long.]

Oh, so length of time with 5 players is why it didn't work well for your group. Well, if game length of time is most important then 5 players of Lords of Waterdeep isn't going to go over well.

Length's not most important, no. Games just have a point where they go on too long or too short for the average player. I can't recall how long it took, but possibly closing on the 3 hour mark, which is ridiculous. Of course, length often depends on the players, a few of which had never played before. One player in particular never seemed to fully grasp the mechanics, so his turns were longer and involved questions.

[Correction: I just realized that we played with 6, not 5. I'm not sure what I was thinking.]
