So my 9 year old and myself picked up the two starters. He can play correctly just fine but his strategy isn't very good. Does anyone have any ideas to handicap myself for more equal outcomes. I aim for a 60/40 percent with him winning 60.

How about limiting yourself by only discarding a card to reroll dice once per turn?

Use less character points (will be easier when you get more stuff). I'm enjoying playing with a pool of cards from two of each starters.

20 character points for you, 30 for him

We are doing this, or as close as we can with only a starter each.

The bigger impact I've discovered is I only take 1 resource per round. This effectively allows him extra actions since I have to waste actions/rounds accumulating resources.

I'm planning to pick this up for my 3rd grade nephew to play with his dad.

Any aspects your kid struggled with that I should be prepared to really teach well? Or did your kid pick up easily? (Other than deeper concepts?)

I will get to play tomorrow for the first time and will see then as well.

Try playing "straight up" once, to see how he fares. Granted, my 7-year-old is a fairly seasoned gamer, but he needs no "mercy" when it comes to Destiny against his dad. I just finally beat him after 5 attempts tonight!

(this could also say more about me as a gamer, I realize...)
