So I was sitting there, minding my own business, when part of my thumbnail fell off.

That can't be good. Getting old sucks, kids; I advise against it.

I wondered how he got that photo. So I tried taking a photo of my own hands. Results:

- Yes, your tongue can trigger the photo button on your phone.
- That is of limited use because I can't reach my phone with my tongue while I'm holding it between my elbows (pointed at my hands)
- Similarly, I can't get my toe up and around to my phone while it's held with my elbows.
- I also cannot hold the phone with my foot, aim at my hands, and snap with a toe on my other foot.
- This is frigging hard.
- Self-timers, tripods, etc. are for losers.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say we're going to need photographic proof of this.

(Solve the puzzle of how to take that picture, and I think you'll pretty much have the solution I used for my picture.)

Speaking as someone with longer nails than you, just "falling off" is perhaps the best way to lose a nail; I'm always grateful when there isn't any pain when I lose a nail.

Well my first instant of glance at that photo was that it was a horned God rock sign, so maybe not.

I don't know what it is about my left thumbnail, but the same thing happened again today. Only, instead of breaking it off on the bottom of Hellhammer's shoe while boosting her into a tree so that we could see what was going on in some new pond-embankment-thing at the river, this time it was on the rubber gasket of the trunk of the friend's car I'm borrowing.

So, again, it's short enough to bleed, and it's bugging me. I use my thumbnails a lot!

Surely you still have access to the hot glue gun.

Ah, I believe they call that a two-fer:

Rusty gets his nail back, and then we get another installment of Rusty's chronicles of home improvement and assorted agonies.

Most smartphone cameras nowadays are voice-activated. Saying, "smile," "capture," or "cheese" usually does it.
