In the spirit of the challenges we had back on the Leaving Earth forum:

Your mission is to reveal all of the Jupiter system location cards: Jupiter, Callisto, Europa, Ganymede, Io.

You start in 1956, with no advancements or hardware. Advancements cost DOUBLE ($20), but are perfectly reliable and come with no outcome cards. You are restricted to the usual $25 per year with no carry-over.

Assume Jupiter is not harmful to unmanned spacecraft.

I will award 10 to the solution that manages this with the lowest total cost, breaking ties by the earliest year. Closing date is a week from this post.

Looks as if Larry takes it - the survey lasts until 1970 because of the one-per-year rule, but that's no problem. But Niko has an impressively fast mission, so I'll give some gold there too. Congratulations to both!

Thank you! Thanks for running the contest.

If I understand the rules correctly, surveys aren't limited to 1 per year, but 1 per turn. You can take multiple turns during a year, so this just affects locations with automatic maneuvers (which trigger at the end of any turn).

Thanks for the GG and the contest Roger!

Hopefully you'll come up with more of these, even though the participation wasn't exactly huge in this one...

Roger, could you make a contest for the manned Titan Mission? This is the ultimate goal of Outer Planets.

I'll do it. Just as soon as I have a bit of time to post it.
