I posted a request for games previously, however I am looking for something else here. I have a 6 yo and 11 yo, and we love all sorts of games (Kings of New York, Castle Panic, Escape). However when we are playing with Mum she really isn't in to anything that isn't a more traditional style. I want her to play so it needs to be a smallish footprint (she can't sit on the floor, etc), simple-ish to play. Examples of games she will play

Uno
Monopoly Deal
Monopoly Hotel

She plays other games on iPhone

GinRummy

So I am after something that will extend her repertoire and she will enjoy (she is competitive and extremely smart!), that we can all play together.

I would appreciate some great suggestions.

(Themes she won't like:

Zombies
Too much Fantasy)

Someday Asagi will be the main character of her very own game.

I have an 11 yo niece who likes No Thanks! and For Sale, which are pretty simple card games.

You can also look into Hanabi which is quite popular for all ages.

If you want something a bit more advanced, try Lost Cities. It's simple to play, but requires a decent amount of strategy.

Maybe consider Diamonds or Little Devils both trick-taking card games.

You're wanting a 4p game which includes the 6 year old I assume?

Clubs is fairly simple to learn but has some strategy.

Is there anything like Lost Cities that can be scaled up for 3-4, etc?

Yes for a 6yo she is a smart game player, regularly winning Uno online tournaments, Gin Rummy Online Tournaments and is viciously good at Kings of New York!

Anything to "young" will actually turn her off, her favourite games are actually Uno, ESCAPE and Kings of New York, which says a lot about her!

You could try Lost Cities the Board Game.

Another possibility is Treasure Hunter or Medieval Academy.

Sushi Go might be just the thing, too.

Seconded. Good for four, and cooperative.

Unless it's too theme-heavy, Citadels is a good one. City-building.

Bohnanza is also a popular one, and family friendly. Hard to have a thing against farming beans.

Tem-Purr-A and Simon's Cat both have an UNOish feel to them. Maybe also try Red7.

+1 Diamonds a traditional game with a very gamerly and competitive twist.

You might also look at the Mystery Rummy series.

+1 Sushi Go and Diamonds (the latter being a great trick-taking game, but perhaps a little much for the younger child).

Well, there is the Lost Cities board game, which by most accounts retains the feeling of Lost Cities while upping the player count. But it's (obviously) a boardgame, not a card game. So if you're interested strictly in card games I guess it won't do.

+1 Sushi Go

Red7 is also a very nice little card game. Plays pretty quickly and can get addictive

The Game is another small card game, it is cooperative but very fun to play
