Founders of Gloomhaven was just announced and put up on BGG, so information at this point is a little sparse. News and images will be coming in over the next couple months, leading up to a (tentative) Kickstarter in late March.

I have a couple questions:

What's the ten second elevator pitch for the game?

How does it connect with Gloomhaven?

How far in advance will you nail down the insert ?

1. Ten-second elevator pitch: Founders of Gloomhaven is a competitive game where players must work together by combining their different resources to build the city of Gloomhaven. It is a Euro game with elements of worker placement, tile placement and auctioning in a unique fantasy setting.

2. The events of Gloomhaven take place hundreds of years after the events in this game. Players are working to construct the city that will one day become the bustling hub of trade that players interact with in Gloomhaven.

3. Being a smaller Euro game and not a 20-pound monster, Founders of Gloomhaven will have a very minimal insert.

I'd love to see some pictures of the prototype pieces/board. Words can only go so far

Though I suppose I have to wait until the KS to get better screens the the prototypes shown in the links you posted.

Yes, there are some prototype images in the blog posts. They are kind of embarrassing, though, as we just started the graphic design process. More pictures will come!

Planning on backing this just based on how much I've enjoyed watching Gloomhaven come together. Isaac has done a great job with updates and keeping us informed. It's been an enjoyable journey. I wish every kickstarter kept us in the loop in the same way. Looking forward to another gloomhaven journey...

After playing the prototype thrice - game has potential and I am looking forward to what has/will be refined. Also the art/design will be critical to this one so I am very interested in how that will turn out.

So excited to see this!
How does this game compare to other tile-laying city building games like the Key series, Suburbia, (maybe even Patchwork/Odin if I see the prototype)?
What are the unique aspects of this game that will make it stand out from those other games?
Edit: and tell us more about the variable player powers/races please!

I'd say that the main difference is that all players are collectively building a single city rather than their own individual cities, and also they are filling out an existing map rather than placing tiles on a blank background, which leads to different spatial challenges. The concept that players must work together because each one only has access to a limited number of resource types also sets it apart (at least from the ones you named).

The main variation of the races is simply what resources they have access to - each resource will score varying amounts of points in different ways depending on the buildings that are built - and also each race has a unique action that can be used in the worker-placement phase.

Sounds like an interesting game but the mechanisms seems to be more made for a higher player count sadly. How will it work with 2 players? What is the expected weight of the game?

It is difficult to succinctly explain how the auction/voting works, and I'm still tweaking the details, but I think it works well at all player counts. A deeper explanation is coming, of course.

I originally balked at Keyflower as a two-player game, but the auction is delicious even with that low count. It's a very strong design for all player counts, and changed my mind about auctions and bidding against just a single opponent.

No questions but I'm a huge fan of what you're doing. I was late to the party on Gloomhaven but I will be there day one for this with bells on.

I've had to pass on Gloomhaven due to having too many dungeon crawls already, and not enough people to play with (But might spring for it once it's out if the solo impressions are good)

But this definitely has my attention, can't wait for that kickstarter
