We got to the last tile of Chapter 6 (All the King’s Mice) and realized we had forgotten to do the special search earlier for the Fishhook & Thread, which the last tile tells you to use to get up into the tree. Is there any reason we can’t return to the previous tile and climb the tree instead? It says there is a tree climb token there. Otherwise, we’ll have to go all the way back to Puddleby I think to get the Fishhook & Thread. Not impossible but somewhat a pain.

Unless it says otherwise in the room/tile specific set-up, backtracking is always an option... and you only place minions when it is previously unexplored tile.

A few things to keep in mind...
Normally you have to clear a tile of minions to explore... However, Downwood lets you run from specific encounters. If this is so, it will say in the chapter and room/tile specific set-up. So you may be able to run away from someone to a previous tile... though, if you return... won't whatever you ran away from still be waiting for you? (not sure about that bit)

Or there is a trick card called Scatter... which you can use durring nightfall to use an explore action even with minions present (but not if they outnumber you, or one of them is a Boss) This card specifies that you remove the minions when leaving the tile, so if you then return to the tile, you would not deal with any minions.

Also.. Time is Short, of course, always applies. (no minions present, after last mouse on the track takes it's turn, place a cheese on the wheel... yada yada)
