I know the game is 2-4 players, but was curious if there was a reasonable chance that it could be played solo at all?

I'm anticipating "no", but was curious.

"No" is the right answer—unless you can develop a split personality.

Though I've been accused of this, it's never been sufficiently split such that I could pull of a two player game as one.

It's playable solo if you can keep strategies separate, paying with what's in your deck and not considering the other hands.

But not ideal--with things like this I play a couple games solo (which are fun, but wouldn't do regularly) to get a sense for the game ahead of introducing to other players.

Most war games are enjoyable solo, but I wouldn't recommend it in this case. Too much of the game is about bluffing and unknown cards in the hands of your opponents.

I've played all of my games solo, since I need to play them a lot more time than I can get enough players together. But I think there are better solo games, since the amount of secret info makes playing solo less awesome.

I will say that among my designs, the most fun 'solo' experience would be using WW2 QMG with both expansions and the optional deck construction rules. This allows you to try out some really unusual strategies, perhaps just varying one deck at a time.

I have thought about publishing some optional solo rules for the games, which would include putting 1-3 cards from hand to the bottom of your draw deck each turn and then not looking at your cards during the draw step.

Hi Ian!
I'm a solitaire player with interest on this game.

Do you have news about your solitaire variant?
How do you manage the PREPARE cards?

Thank you!

Joe

Stukajoe has created a good solo method for card-driven games like Paths of Glory. With a little adaptation, it might work well with this:
