I intend this thread to be a definitively listing of what should be inside each box.

Edit: Last Update Nov 28, 2016. Thread is completely incomplete. Entries are placeholders only at this point. My group has unlocked 5 boxes, so initially I will work on filling out those entries. If you would like to assist with this thread please use spoiler tags for each box and list the components you received in said box. (If you post about box 6 I will not be looking at (or adding) those entries until we have reached that point to avoid spoilers.)

I have had a couple component issues (missing and/or extras) and noticed others have posted about this as well. Due to the legacy nature of this game it may be extremely difficult to know if you have a missing or an extra component in one of the unlock boxes.

For example we received a building in box 3 that we should not have even had access to or known about until box 5. Fortunately this has not had any impact on our game as no one had made use of this building yet. If you happen to be missing a sealed event card there will eventually be some game mechanic to unlock event card 'x' to tip you off that you are missing something. However, if you are missing (or have an extra) building, research card, adviser, etc you will very likely have no idea that anything is wrong.

I got an extra set of boats in my box. Each color had 3 boats. The box and rules say only 2.

This is a great idea! We got a research card that refers to a milestone that doesn't seem to exist yet for us. At this point, we're just stalling on using it, but I wonder if it's not a mixup of some sort.

the five event cards

One question for you (or others) -- box 1 spoilers hidden below:

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I haven't looked at the Research or Uncharted Waters cards because we have not yet begun the next game, but I counted them and we got 17 Research cards and 19 Uncharted Waters cards. Is that how many you got?

I believe that's intentional. If it's the one I think it is,

Spoiler (click to reveal)
its text says it can't be used until there are colonies in play. So you can get it now, but you can't use it until the rules for colonies are unlocked.

I found that research card too. It's not a mix-up. Personally I snatched it up, the game was almost done so I didn't need a different one. Figured since we keep the research cards between games that that basically likely locks that milestone for me for the future (unless I sink on my attempt to complete it and it goes back to the deck).

Spoiler (click to reveal)
The milestone is in the box that's unlocked when selling 4 of the same goods in one turn.

Just keep in mind that other players can see and can steal your research cards. So it's only as much of a lock as your opponents let it be...

A note about something that looks like an error in one of the boxes. Box 3, I think? This isn't a spoiler if you've opened any of them, and an extremely minor one if you haven't:

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I've seen a few reports of one of the boxes not having the "Read entry XXX" card on top of the pack of smaller cards, and we hit that too. You have to break open the small cards to find that one.

Yes I think that's definitely not a spoiler (and it confused us as well, especially because box 3 is opened

in the middle of a game
. So to everybody :

In every box, there is a card telling you to read a Captain's Booke entry. If you don't find it (as is apparently the case in box 3), open the blister of the samll cards and look for it.

Box 3 card says to read entry number

They can? I missed that part. I knew they could see them but not that they could be stolen.

Are they part of the Treasure Room?

Absolutely!

Dismiss the other cards.

Very little in SeaFall is completely safe. Except your leader and the game references. Hostiles can raid your province, your ships, etc, but nothing can ever take those away...

Yup, I think that's about the only stuff that never changes.
